Welcome to Taste of Lithuania, a culinary journey through the flavours and traditions of my beloved homeland. I'm Ieva, a Lithuanian-born blogger passionate about sharing authentic and modern recipes from Lithuanian cuisine, as well as insights into the customs, traditions, and lifestyle of Lithuania.
Having spent the first 18 years of my life in the capital city of Vilnius, surrounded by the delicious aromas and flavours of Lithuanian food, it's no wonder that I developed a deep appreciation for our culinary heritage. From an early age, I fell in love with staples like potatoes, mayo, rye bread, and sour cream. However, my true passion lies in the realm of Lithuanian desserts and sweet treats, particularly the mouthwatering Lithuanian Napoleon Tort and Honey Cake.

Although I currently reside in North Wales, UK, I still consider Lithuania my true home. I make it a point to visit my homeland regularly, and whenever I have the opportunity, I recreate authentic Lithuanian dishes in my own kitchen. Living abroad has given me a fresh perspective on the challenges of sourcing the right ingredients for Lithuanian cooking outside of Lithuania. Through my blog, I aim to make it easier for enthusiasts like myself to prepare Lithuanian dishes by providing suggestions on ingredient substitutes, sourcing tips, and even recipes for making certain ingredients from scratch.
As a traveller, I've had the pleasure of exploring the beautiful landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Lithuania. These experiences have enabled me to curate itineraries, recommend the best places to visit, and suggest exciting activities to make the most of your time in this enchanting country. Lithuania is truly a treasure trove of unique customs and traditions, which I delight in sharing with my readers, offering a glimpse into the heart and soul of our rich heritage.
Back at my home in North Wales, I strive to incorporate Lithuanian-style living into my daily life. I grow my own vegetables and preserve any excess for the winter months. Our home becomes a hub for Lithuanian BBQ parties, where we savour the flavours of shashlik and Lithuanian salads. And when Christmas arrives, I take joy in preparing the traditional Lithuanian Christmas Eve feast, featuring the renowned 12 dishes.
I started my blogging journey in 2019 over at Somebody Feed Seb, where I shared recipes from around the globe. With this endeavour, I aim to shed light on the often-overlooked culinary treasures of Lithuania. Influenced by a fusion of cuisines from various countries throughout history, Lithuanian food carries hints of Polish, Russian, German, Georgian, and Armenian flavours, creating a unique culinary experience.
Join me as we embark on a delightful exploration of Lithuanian cuisine, uncovering its vibrant flavours, treasured recipes, and the rich tapestry of customs and traditions that make Lithuania a truly exceptional culture. Let's celebrate the culinary heritage of Lithuania and bring a taste of this captivating country to kitchens around the world.
